How long does it take for the implant to take root?

One of the most common questions I have during the appointments is how long it takes for the implant to take root?

  • If there was a standard implantation treatment without additional manipulations, then, usually, the implant takes root for 2-3 months, regardless of whether it was installed on the upper or lower jaw.
  • If the patient had sinus augmentation (this applies only to the upper jaw) with the immediate installation of the implant, then it takes root for six months because the bone grafting takes root for this amount of time.
  • If bone regeneration applies to the lower jaw, it is necessary to wait 8-9 months from the moment of implantation, provided that the implants were immediately installed. It all depends only on what kind of related measures were applied.
  • If this is pure standard implantation, then the waiting time is 2-3 months.
